Grandmaster

Grandmaster Sin Kwang Thé was born in East Asia in the year 1943. He began his studies with Grandmaster Ie Chang Ming as a child at 8 years of age. He received his first degree black belt at age 13 and continued his training regimen until 1964 when he came to the United States to pursue a college education at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

While attending college he began teaching Karate, since this was long before the era of Kung Fu. By the end of the year, he had thirty students. Today, he oversees over 111 schools nation wide.

Mastering more than 900 forms from over 100 fighting systems, Grandmaster Thé became the youngest Grandmaster in the history of the Shaolin art when he was promoted to the position of tenth degree black belt by Grandmaster Ie Chang Ming in 1968.

This photo was taken during a trip to China in June 1992. Master Thé was honored with a stone tablet erected to commemorate his visit to the Shaolin Temple. The man on the left is Su Xi, the head abbot of the Shaolin Temple, now deceased.
